Finding Out about Care Homes

There are a number of ways to find out about Care Homes in Oxfordshire:

  • Speak to the Community Psychiatric Nurse, or an Alzheimer's Society or Clive Project support worker: they are likely to know which care homes in your locality specialise in dementia care.
  • Care in Oxfordshire is a Guide to Care Homes, Nursing Homes, and Providers of Home Care in Oxfordshire, published yearly. The book, which is well worth getting hold of, is available free by ringing 01865 854477. Some of the information is also available on the Care in Oxfordshire website.
  • Full inspection reports of care services, can be found on the CSCI (Commission for Social Care Inspection) website, or obtained by ringing 01865 397750.
  • If you are looking for a care home or a respite home, you can visit Oxfordshire County Council's Care Home Vacancy Information website. This website allows you to search all care homes in Oxfordshire for older people and adults with a physical disability, and gives more detail about the home and the type of care provided. It also gives information about whether the home has any vacancies and provides contact details. You can create and print a personalised information pack which includes information specific to your requirements.
