The Clive Project
The Clive Project was established in spring 1998 to develop and provide a range of integrated, specialist and flexible services for younger people with dementia and their carers in Oxfordshire. Read Clive's Story on The Clive Project website.
People supported by the Clive Project include:
- People under 65 years of age with dementia: active individual support sessions, through the Clive Project One-to-One service.
- Family and friends of people with the early onset of dementia: information and emotional support through individual and group sessions.
- Anyone affected by early onset dementia: social events.
Younger people with dementia can meet up with other younger people with dementia, through regular gatherings organised by The Clive Project. These range from small 'coffee & chats', to larger social gatherings. People can come to these meetings even if they are not part of the One-to-One service.
Friends and family of younger people with dementia can also meet with others, through The Clive Project Exchange. Exchange meetings offer an informal and friendly opportunity to share experiences and expertise with others.
The Clive Project has an open referral policy, so anyone can make contact.

Other Support Locally
As a younger person with dementia you can also access other dementia services, not specifically geared towards younger people. Some of these may have off-putting titles, e.g. "Old Age Psychiatrists" are actually the specialists in most forms of dementia. Try not to let this bias towards older people put you off getting the help you need.
More information is available in our Local Support and Services section.
